Et voila, my finished embroidered spat/shoe combination.White leather, multicoloured thread, hand-embroidered spat panels, navy blue waxed heels and soles: I love them I love them I really love them!
It's almost a sad thing to have finished them, I have been working on them for so long. They are inspired by my Spectrum Boots, which are visible on the left hand side there as my avatar.
It is also going to be difficult to resist wearing them before the exhibition, as soon as you crease the front they no longer look brand-spanking new, so I may have to put them out of sight until October.

Listening to: Daryl Hall and John Oates - I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) 1983!! This was the first album I ever bought on vinyl, my Mum still has it at her place, my sister and I had many elaborate dances choreographed to this album and I stand by it to this day!

It is a strange skill to have, that I drew a little sketch a few months ago, and now here they are in the flesh.
Actually a friend of mine suggested that they look like they are for a Mexican Elf, which is a gorgeous image, I can see a hat with feathers, a la Puss in Boots.
Another pal thought that they were for a Ukrainian Cowboy, I'm loving that image too.
I was thinking of a Mary Poppins-esque character when I designed them, but it's great to hear all of your thoughts!

i thought they were cowboy boots at first but they're much more versatile than mere boots!
not sure how i'd go keeping them pristine being the grub i am, they're almost too nice to wear...
